Bachu, a young man and the eldest son, is expected to take up the responsibilities of his family, letting his expatriate dad retire. However, he never wants to go abroad to work as he prefers to live a simple life sharing his happiness and sadness with his family. As he tries his best to prove himself with small time businesses, Covid-19 hits. The disease, demise and protocols give him a new perspective on life.
Though Malayalam cinema has seen many movies picturised in this backdrop, Muhasin tries to explore how the pandemic hit the lives of people emotionally. The two-hour movie is a slice of life emotional drama with perfect casting, music, editing and story.
The actors do justice to Harshad's script. Basil Joseph who has internalised Bachu explores the actor in him. Sreeja Ravi, Indrans and Jaffer Idukki add flavour to the movie. Govind Vasanta's music amps up the emotional sequences which play an integral part in the pace of the movie.
It is a perfectly crafted family entertainer based on the pandemic. Bachu and his kith and kin are here with their innocence and love to remind that love surpasses everything, even the virus!
Quick gender thought: The sequence between Bushara and her husband is a breath of fresh air. As she demands an apology from her husband, she also prove that respect is important in any relationship. A rare moment in Malayalam cinema.
