2018 Malayalam Movie HD Released

2018: Everyone is a Hero' was expected to be an emotional survival story, a story of triumph against all odds. It was all that and more. For anyone who has lived through the Kerala Floods of 2018, for anyone who had watched the events from the sidelines, it will end up being more than a movie. A technically sound, well paced, thoughtfully crafted film, 2018, is a cinematic experience Keralites deserve. After all, it's their story.

The story starts in a village Aruvikkulam, where we meet a lot of people with their petty quarrels. Among them is a youngster who left the Army with fake medical certificate, played by Tovino. We get to see their ordinary lives and later in sharp contrast, how it gets overturned because of the flood. The absolute horror and the helplessness one feels when water goes up to the roof of their house is depicted well and Jude Anthany Joseph succeeds in doing justice to the sufferings, desperation and pain of thousands.

While the first half was comparatively calm, it was the calm before the storm that was the second half. The fishermen and their rescue efforts, the locals and the help they provided, the helicopter rescue, almost everything, that we remember from the times, has found a place and these moments were well executed.

Tovino, Asif Ali, Lal, Indrans, Sudheesh, Narein, Kunchacko Boban, Kalaiyarasan, Gauthami, Tanvi Ram- each of them has done justice to their roles. Add to that the performance from an array of actors who have player the minor roles of mothers, fathers, of victims and officials- there was nothing over the top about their performances.

The songs and the background scores were well-suited and not too jarring. There were moments that could have been explored more, but all said and done, doing justice to a tragedy this generation has lived through, is a big job where you absolutely must deliver the best possible work.

The quality of the writing shows and Akhil P Dharmajan and Jude has done a commendable job. Cinematogtaphy by Akhil George needs special mention. Add Chaman Chacko's editing and quality VFX, the movie is a good watch.
