Isaakhinte Ithihasam HD Released

Siddique is appearing in a central role in a movie after a long interval. The film Isakkinte Ithihasam centres around his titular role as a priest who guides and often provides the last word and answer to the problems of his parish.

The story takes off when the priest and villagers decide to renovate their century-old church, of which Isak takes charge. But the priest gets caught up in a financial scam. Isak treats the issue as a trial by God. Whether he succeeds in clearing his name forms the crux of the movie, directed by debutante R K Ajaykumar.

For Siddique, the film is a space to portray an unconventional priest so far not seen in the movies. Apart from reciting Christian prayers, Isak is an inspiring, philosophical and logical priest, who helps everyone get an insight into their lives irrespective of religion. The film combines a feel-good factor with suspense. In the first half, we are shown the simple lives in a village, but with no real movement to keep the audience interested.

The life of Isak gets intertwined in the love story of Kunjumon (Bhagath Manuel) and Clara. The film's romance feels clichéd; he is a poor village boy in love with the wealthy village belle. The love story felt like stitched-in unnecessarily to give the film a dash of oomph by the makers.

The supporting role of Ashokan as US-based businessman George Washington, Ambika Mohan as Gargi, Pashanam Shaji as Kochachan, who provide the comedy quotient, also feel like add-ons to fill the spaces in the film. Apart from delivering a few thought-provoking words for the public, the film does not offer much to the audience. Usually, Gopi Sundar provides some memorable musical notes, but that too is lacking here.
