 After the murder of the parish priest, Fr Aby Capuchin takes over in the problematic village of Kalippakkara. Will he bring about a positive change?

Kalippakkara, a small village on the backwaters, is not as idyllic as it seems. Here, even to get the best meat, people have to literally fight, and the place does not allow any outsiders except tourists. Even the police can’t really step in here.

On Sundays, women go to church and men go to market to buy beef from Thresea chechi (Bindu Panicker) and the local parish priest (Joy Mathew) wants to clean up the bad reputation of the village. It is the church kaikaaran, Isthak (Manianpilla Raju) who masterminds the unlawful activities in the village. One night the priest is murdered and the church sends Father Aby Capuchin (Siju Wilson) to take over. A loving, handsome artist, the priest comes to troubled Kalippakkara with his assistant, Keppa (Davinchi Santosh). The incidents, after their arrival to the village, essay the rest of the movie.

It is refreshing to see a father who plays football with kids, sings and captures on canvas the beauty of the area. Isthak’s daughter (Leona Lishoy) even has a crush on father Aby. He also drinks toddy and plays cards, and Siju with his cute smile and mannerisms, carries it off well, and is the saving grace of the movie. Manianpilla Raju, Leona Lishoy and Bindu Panicker also do a good job.

The main drawback of the movie, directed by debutant Jijo Joseph and written by a priest Danny Capuchin, is that things are portrayed unbelievably. And while the first half is passable, post interval, boredom sets in, with us looking forward to some important turn of events. The music by Prakash Alex is so-so, though Rajeesh Raman’s cinematography beautifully captures the village.

If you are a Siju Wilson fan, you can watch this light-hearted movie, with a willing suspension of disbelief.
