Raju Gari Gadhi 3 story: An unknown spirit guards Maya (Avika Gor) against any possible threats from eve-teasers and Don Juans. But what happens when true love flourishes between Maya and Ashwin Babu, and the spirit isn’t all too happy about it?
Raju Gari Gadhi 3 Review: While Raju Gari Gadhi was a surprising hit, followed by the star-studded Raju Gari Gadhi 2, the third chapter of the franchise fails to impress. With the same ol’ formula of horror-comedy employed till the end, the film doesn’t really have a novel story to tell.
Maya (Avika Gor) is a doctor by profession and always guarded by an unknown spirit that has its roots in a mythical tale that took place during the British regime in Kerala. When she gets harassed by a bunch of eve-teasers, the spirit acts as her guardian angel and protects her. Ashwin, an auto-driver, happens to meet Maya and fall for her head-over-heels. But the spirit is not too happy about it.
Tollywood’s favourite new genre seems to be horror-comedy, but the film only manages to impress in parts. Raju Gari Gadhi 3 doesn’t terrify at all, but it tries too hard to employ horror tropes like jump scares and sound effects. With a clichéd and predictable storyline in the first half, the film fails at keeping the audience engaged. The forced comedy too doesn’t help nor do the numerous characters thrown in cumbersome situations. There’s also a sexually provocative dance number that has no relevance to the plot.
The second half shifts the story to an old bungalow in Kerala. Ali, Urvashi, Ajay Ghosh and Dhanraj’s comedy works for a brief period, offering some much-needed respite from all the drab. The climax doesn’t leave any room to shock or awe, with the film seeming like it’s unnecessarily stretched, despite its short run-time.
Ohmkar’s direction only works in parts, with the clichéd plot and predictable sequences proving to be the film’s downfall. Thankfully, the film has only one melody track between the lead pair and that saves time. Shabir’s sound and Chota K Naidu’s camera-work is satisfactory. Raju Gari Gadhi 3 is a horror-comedy devoid of any goosebump moments, so it makes do with humour.
