Tha Gambler Malayalam DVD Released

While entering the theatre to watch The Gambler, the audience might have hoped to finally see a Malayali superhero on screen. However, this film isn’t likely to offer what they expect from a movie that claims to belong to this genre.

The Gambler has its hero, actor Anson, playing a character who is his namesake. He single-handedly runs his family and is struggling with the numerous issues coming his way from all quarters. His son Franz Lasar is also much like his dad and is no academic star. The various stumbling blocks Anson confronts create a rift in his married life as well. But, the protagonist continues to be an optimist and often says ‘neglect the naysayers’.

As for the performance, Anson has tried to do the best that he can. However, the film offers nothing much for an audience who expects a hero in his shiny armor to do brave acts, and has executed the ‘heroics’ in a different manner. The story is also not solid enough to hold it all together and its length further diminishes the audience interest in the film. The film could sure have made a better impact if the treatment was well-thought-out.
