302 HD Released

Thrillers feel under-cooked when directors miss even a tiny detail when it comes to fleshing out characters and the film doesn’t even have a scope to thrill unless all plot holes are sealed. Unfortunately, 302 doesn’t have even the basic ingredients required of a good thriller. More than story and script, director Karthikeya Miryala focuses on objectifying the female lead. Even more annoying is the crass and homophobic dialogues that are a test to patience and are passed off as ‘comedy’.

The film kick-starts with a group of prisoners telling their stories, none of them are related to the main plot in case you’re wondering, but seem to be wrestled into the film just to fill the run-time. None of the stories make sense and end up only irritating the viewer. The film only gets into the thick of things once Avantika goes to the hotel room. Unfortunately, all that’s required of her is to weep whenever she faces the camera. It’s something that makes you weep too, not from the emotion of it all, but with regret that this film just won’t end.

302 also has way too many characters, played by Tagubothu Ramesh, Vennela Kishore, Naveen Neni and more who walk in and out of the story for no reason. The humour, like we previously mentioned, is below the belt. What’s even more bizarre is how Avanthika, who’s trying to cover up her crime takes the help of the hotel staff to do so and later even calls the cops herself to inform them about the dead body. The ‘plot twists’ that come later on in the film are bizarre and when the film finally ends, you feel nothing but relief.

Seeing as how the script leaves no scope for performance, there’s nothing to talk about there. The music is disappointing, to say the least. 302, which is marketed as a thriller, is a subpar fare that makes no sense.
