Popcorn Monkey Tiger HD Released

Tiger Seena (Dhananjaya) is a dreaded gangster who has his set of adversaries and acquaintances. Popcorn Devi (Niveditha), a small-time popcorn seller, leads an ordinary existence until life takes on unexpected and dangerous turns

The film showcases the journeys of both Seena and Devi, almost simultaneously. There are also loads of characters thrown in, and each of them - however big or small - play an important part in piecing together the jigsaw puzzle that keeps you hooked.

Yes, one can expect all the gore and violence that an A-rated film can present, and the fight sequences and on-screen murders are definitely not for the faint-hearted. Dhananjaya shines as Seena, making you feel for him through his heartbreaks and root for him when he's fighting. Niveditha stands out as Popcorn Devi, she is the hidden weapon of the narrative and fires as expected. With good cinematography, on track background score and crisp editing, this could as well be one of the technically sound films made in Sandalwood of late.

For those who have been following director Suri’s films till date, this one is a treat – for not only do you see those one-odd interesting characters from his previous film make an appearance in this one, you also have a set of new characters that one can expect to see in one of his films in the future.

While fans of crime and gore will enjoy this, it is still a story that unintentionally glorifies the underworld in more ways than one.

PS: The makers do not play the film’s popular number Maadeva in its entirety, but you will not miss that.
