Amaram Akhilam Prema HD Released

To begin with, the plot of this film has nothing fresh in it. The overbearing father and confused daughter falling in love is a tale often told. Amaram Akhilam Prema is that same old tale with 21st century toppings. Director Jonathan Vesapogu seems painfully aware of this fact, as he gives a modern update to all characters except for Akhila’s father Arun (Srikanth Iyengar).

Most of the first half of the film goes in Amar pretending to be everything from a cable guy to an electrician and a water boy to get Akhila’s attention. The stalking scenes test your patients but his bizarre attempts to win her over will make you empathise. It’s only when he finally conveys his love to her that she opens up about her dark past. Unfortunately, that’s what it takes for Amar to realise his attempts at ‘wooing’ her aren’t cool. The writing almost makes one feel that stalking is okay, as long as she doesn’t object to it. But of course, because this is a romantic drama, Akhila soon starts falling for him the second he stops stalking her.

Despite the predictability, the film doesn’t make you want to skip the scenes as they are well shot and fit well together. The climax however is an overdose of father-daughter sentiment complete with draggy scenes. The point of the film is to show how a young girl is emotionally exploited by the men around her in the name of love. Unfortunately, the film doesn’t stick to its guns, ending with a mixed message that aims to make one believe everything is fair in love.

Shivshakti deserves accolades for performing her role with subtlety. Vijay Ram delivers a decent performance too, even if his screen presence needs to be worked on. Srikanth breezes through his role, delivering a commendable performance. Amaram Akhilam Prema is slow and routine but the performances make it worth your while.
