Rudra Thandavam HD REleased

Director Mohan G, who is known for making controversial films, reunites with his favourite actor Richard Rishi yet again for an action drama with Rudra Thandavam. The film kicks off with Inspector Rudra Prabhakaran (Richard) being accused of a crime during his tenure. In a few minutes, we get to see Rudran's past and what has led him to this unfortunate situation.

Mohan G's Draupathi, which released in 2020, was in the news for targeting a particular community and accusing them of luring women from other castes for money and power. In Rudra Thandavam, he continues to project his views with a different plot, bringing in PCR (Protection of Civil Rights) Act and many other aspects.

Rudran, a fearless cop, who is living with his pregnant wife (Darsha Gupta) gets transferred to a different place to deal with drug peddlers. As he tries to bring justice to people under his jurisdiction, he stumbles upon two young boys, involved in the sale of drugs. Unfortunately, one of them gets injured and dies a week later, leading to a PCR case on Rudran. What follows is a series of caste and religion-based chaos, making the case stronger against him.

Amidst Rudran's personal struggles with his wife, how he tries to prove himself in the court of law forms the crux in the second half of the film.

The film, which comes across as an action drama, fails to give the adrenaline rush and impact, which are much-needed for a genre of this kind. While Mohan G could have handled this issue in a neutral way, many instances portray a particular class or community in a bad light. However, a couple of scenes in the second half, try to make up for damage forced upon a set of people.

What's satisfying is that this film, unlike his previous outing, majorly addresses anti-social elements in the city and how the future generation get affected by it. Music composer Jubin and cinematographer Farook J Basha have done justice as far as the technical aspect of the movie is concerned.

The main USP of the film is Gautham Menon, who acts as the antagonist. His character, Vadhabirajan, keeps the viewers engrossed. The scene in which he confronts Rudran is one of the highlights of the film. Veterans like Radha Ravi and Thambi Ramaiah have also excelled in supporting roles.
