Iratta HD Released

ASP Vinod dies unexpectedly during his duty hours at Vagamon police station. His twin brother DSP Pramod sets out to figure out the reasons behind his untimely demise. Since it's an issue that questions the credibility of the police department, the investigation happens overnight.

Malayalam cinema has seen many interesting films like Mayamayooram and Annan Thampi that tells the tale of twins. The Rohit M G Krishnan movie is totally different from what the industry has offered so far. It explores the bond between two brothers, childhood trauma and siblings rivalry. The filmmaker who has also scripted the film has skillfully crafted a thriller that has multiple layers which unravels as the movie progresses.

When an actor is entrusted to play multiple characters, it's a challenge and also a chance to showcase their acting prowess. Joju George who plays Pramod and Vinod brilliantly. He handles it by giving clear character sketches to both the siblings using tools of internalisation and externalisation. If Vinod is a ruthless cop, Pramod is a professional. However, both are relics of a broken marriage which reflects in their personalities. Every actor in the film has done a fabulous job. Anjali who plays Malini brings her alive through her silence and subtilty. Sunil Surya, Sabumon Abdusamad, Abhiram Radhakrishnan, Srinda and Arya Salim are few of names that need a mention for making the film an interesting nail-biter.

Like one of Joju's classic hits, Joseph, this movie also has its background score playing an interesting role in bringing some moments alive. Jakes Bejoy create an eerie suspenseful tone throughout the film which enhances moments like Malini walking into the police station and Pramod being dutiful while managing his grief as a brother. Vijay's cinematography, Manu Antony's editing and Charles's sound design also deserve accolades.

On a feministic side, the movie has women playing characters beyond mother, wife and daughters - be it the Forest Minister by Srindaa or head police Arya Salim. However, at some point we may think about those women who became Vinod's pleasure 'toys' which were silently accepted by his colleagues who are also cops.

Joju George has once again proved that he is an actor with calibre who can breathe life into every role that he plays. The movie is a suspense thriller that never forces anyone to hate or love any of the characters in it. Unlike the contemporary trend, the film belongs to everyone on screen.
